SLAM (Statistics and Liberal Arts Math) courses are for students pursuing a program 的研究 不需要微积分. Most students seeking an 证书, AA,, or transfer programs that do 不需要微积分, can choose from the SLAM options.

To meet your GE math requirement you only need one math course. 你的位置允许 you to select from any of the SLAM math courses.  Please check your Educational Plan or see a counselor to make sure you choose the course that best meets 你的教育目标.

如果你r major requires Statistics or Liberal Arts Math, you will need to take one of the classes listed here, but it may vary depending on your major and the school 你想转到.

  • Statistics: PCC offers three statistics options, depending on your major.
    • Stat 050 “Elementary Statistics” is a 4-unit, transferrable course that is a general 统计课程.  学生 can elect to take a 0.5-unit, non-transferrable support course Stat 150 “支持 for Elementary Statistics” along with Stat 050.  这些课程 are taught by faculty in the 数学部门.
    • Stat 015 “Statistics for 业务 & Economics” is a 4-unit, transferrable course that provides an emphasis on applications in the areas of 业务 and Economics.  这 course is taught by faculty in the 业务 Division.
    • Stat 018 “Statistics for Behavioral & Social Sciences” is a 4-unit, transferrable course that provides an emphasis on applications in areas related to Behavioral and Social Sciences, such as Psychology and Sociology.  这 course is taught by faculty in the Social Sciences Division.
  • Math 015 “Exploration in Quantitative Reasoning” is a 4-unit, transferrable course that provides instruction on many topics relevant to real-life, such as probability, 和金融.  学生 can elect to take a 0.5-unit, non-transferrable support course Math 115 “支持 for Quantitative Reasoning” along with Math 015.  这些课程 are taught by faculty in the 数学部门.
  • Bus 014A “Mathematical Analysis for 业务 – Finite” is a 4-unit, transferrable course that provides the foundational skills that students will need before going on to take Bus 014B “Mathematical Analysis for 业务 – Calculus”.  这些课程 are taught by faculty in the 业务 Division.
  • Math 038 “基金会 of Elementary School Mathematics” is a 3-unit, transferrable course that provides the mathematical skills necessary for students to teach mathematics at the elementary school level.
